Meandering Pathways

Client: Misha, West Seattle

Our challenge: To complement an imaginative home remodel that included land regrading, a driveway, and new deck.

Our solution: We designed a series of pathways that invite lingering and contemplation, using a combination of native plants and exotics with year-round interest. We set a flagstone pathway, complete with pond, and included some edible plants along the pathways.

A park from start to finish

Client: Doug and Connie, West Seattle

Our challenge: Our client knew immediately that they wanted their one-acre yard to feel like a park. Their yard definitely needed some loving care.

Our solution: Once we solved some drainage issues, we were able to design a space that includes a circular gravel walkway with numerous native shrubs and trees. We scattered flowering perennials along the way to provide bursts of color. In addition, we built an entertainment area with a stone patio to complement their existing wooden gazebo.

Green Renovation of Hillside

Client: Wendy, Seward Park

Our challenge: This hillside was a mess of every invasive plant found in Seattle: Blackberry, Morning Glory, and Scotch Broom, to name a few.

Our solution: We first cleared the area and set up a weed barrier. Then, we chose plants that would help to anchor the hillside, such as Cistus and Ceanothus. We also set up a drip irrigation system that makes watering the hillside in summer a breeze.
